Nitrogen Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Systems
Nitrogen PSA system:
The Nitrogen PSA system has been around for years.
PSA's are reliable and safe. PSA's are especially recommended for higher
purity applications. Typically, PSA's are most economically suited for
applications requiring purities in excess of 98%. PSA's typically have
an ideal flow range of between 500 SCFH and 100,000 SCFH, with
pressures up to 120 psig (without booster compression). Purities of up
to 99.995% can be achieved with a PSA system.
HOW PSA TECHNOLOGY
WORKS?
Compressed air enters one end of two
absorber tubes . . . filled with carbon molecular sieve (CMS). While
the smaller oxygen molecules are absorbed by the CMS, the larger
nitrogen molecules pass through and are stored. Upon saturation, the
first adsorber releases the oxygen, which the second adsorber starts
the process over again.
Since the molecular sieves are
constantly regenerating themselves during the purge cycle, there is
virtually never a need for replacement of this primary component. The
only maintenance required is the easy replacement of small filters
that take less than 5 minutes to perform - a few times a year.
WHY a PSA?
- Up to 50% gas cost savings over traditional supply methods
- Achieve high purities at low costs
- Minimized electrical power consumption.
- Fast simple installation
- Flexibility and reliability
- Low maintenance
